Reports and Assessments

HOW WE HELP

Standardised Assessments – These include a variety of formal intellectual, cognitive and academic assessments in the form of questionnaires, which can identify abilities relating to intellect, learning, cognition, attention, memory, and executive function. We also offer psychometric assessments, which include aptitude tests, skills tests and personality tests to understand individual capabilities and tendencies.

Functional Capacity and Needs Assessment - This assessment evaluates the things that an individual does to function in their everyday life and identify where their strengths and weaknesses lie. This assessment is useful when determining support needs and intervention focuses, and is a report particularly valued by the National Disability Insurance Agency/Scheme (NDIA/NDIS).

Auditory Processing Evaluation - Auditory processing provides us with the foundational skills for learning, understanding and using language, as an effective means of communicating with others.  It encompasses a range of skills, which a typically developing auditory system holds. When there are deficits in the skills mentioned above, an auditory processing disorder may exist. Evaluation detects such disorders.

Computerised Neuropsychological Assessments - With the support of technological advances, we perform digital assessments of attention, memory, executive function, impulsivity, inhibition and emotion recognition. This test is done by performing simple tasks in front of a computer, and is suitable for ages 8-89 years.

Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG) - This is the process of determining the Brain Function Profile (BFP), also known as ‘Brain Mapping’. During this assessment, an individual’s brainwaves are recorded and analysed.  Analysis involves the recorded brainwaves being compared to an international database.  This method enables us to determine the specific region of the brain which is idling or overactive.  Together with results obtained from other assessments, we then tailor an intervention specifically designed for the individual. Reports – Some of our reports include Behavioural Support Programs for children, teenagers and adults. We are experienced with most reports relevant to other healthcare providers, schools, and NDIS beneficiaries. Sometimes the same individual will require different reports at different times or for different institutions, a service we are also familiar with.

There are many other methods for measuring the brain function and capacity. Some are specifically designed for children, teenagers, adults or seniors. Other assessments can be applied to all ages. Often we will use a combination of several assessments for a comprehensive and individualised profile as unique as each brain. At Brain Care we offer these services at our clinics in Tweed Heads or Robina. Our trained staff can guide you through the processes involving Medicare, NDIS, private health insurance providers, EAPs, and Workcover.

At Brain Care we work with different assessments and reports. Some of them are standard psychological questionnaires used by psychologists and counsellors around the world. Other assessments focus on a specific area of brain function. We specialise in neurological assessments and qEEG (also known as ‘Brain Mapping’).
