Who Do We Help

Our approach is suitable for children, teenagers, and adults looking to address issues such as ADHD, Autism, Behaviour Issues, Anxiety, Depression, Learning Difficulties, Memory Loss, PTSD, and other conditions. Brain Care is a private psychology practice with offices in Tweed Heads and Robina, where we combine the proven benefits of psychotherapy with the science behind neurofeedback and other brain-based therapies. If you or your loved ones need to improve your mental wellbeing, or your brain performance, we are here to help with:

How Does It Work

It all starts with providing you with a safe space. Generally, the initial appointment will be a ‘welcome’ session where the clinician will understand your background and will suggest the best intervention for you, according to your needs and circumstances. For some people, it may be as simple as just attending sessions for as long as it’s needed. For other, formal assessments will be necessary at the beginning, followed by a prescribed program. A final session, assessment, or report will record all progress, and continued intervention might be recommended in some cases. We can guide you in every step of your journey.

How Do We Help

  • Psychology Report Assessment

    Reports and Assessments

We offer a variety of formal intellectual, cognitive and academic assessments. These can identify your abilities relating to intellect, learning, cognition, attention, memory, and executive function. We work with other health allies and NDIS.

  • Psychology Counselling

    Psychotherapy

De-stigmatising mental health is a key step that enables us to focus on your strengths as an individual. Our professional counselling and psychology services offer you support in the exploration of your thoughts, emotions and behaviour.

  • Neuro feedback Biofeedback Neurotherapy

    qEEG - Neuromodulation

Rapid advances in technology allow a better and more accurate understanding of brain activity. This activity is measured in brainwaves through a qEEG, which literally draws a brain map where imbalances become visible.

  • Telehealth Psychology

    At-Home Therapy

Psychology and counselling services can be arranged via telehealth at your request. Additionally, we offer a range of evidence-based therapies, which you can use in the comfort and privacy of your home, if you choose to do so.

At Brain Care, we recognise the uniqueness of each individual.

Our approach is to ensure we fully understand each person and tailor our programs to assist in their journey to reach their goals. Often there will be a personalised combination of psychotherapy and brain-based therapy, so we can simultaneously alleviate your symptoms and address what is causing them. Most of our interventions are supported by Medicare and NDIS plans. We also welcome self-referrals, private health insurance, Workcover and EAPs.

What is Neurofeedback?

The brain works through a series of electrical signals and connections in an incessant activity, which can be measured through a qEEG. We also now know that humans are capable of controlling this electrical activity. Remarkably, despite the fact that ‘neurons that fire together, wire together’, science has proven that the brain is not really hard-wired. Instead, it can modify its structure and function through the creation of new neural paths, in a process called neuroplasticity.

Neuromodulation -also called neurofeedback, biofeedback, or neurotherapy- is the technique of showing the brain how to create these new neural paths and brainwaves, or how to regulate existing ones. This is a medication-free, pain-free, non-invasive process. Performance improvements occur in memory, mood, psycho-motor skills, and learning. The results obtained over the past twenty years have indicated that these brain-based therapies produce positive, measurable, long-lasting results. You can read about our success stories here.
