qEEG and Neuromodulation
What to expect
There are several steps involved in producing a comprehensive assessment, which in turn will dictate a tailored protocol, suited to each unique individual and his/her circumstances. Regardless of your referral, this is the process you can expect when you come to Brain Care for a qEEG, followed by Neuromodulation therapies.
Step 1: Initial consultation - The initial consultation is a welcoming session, as well as a history taking of the individual’s development and current concerns and symptoms. During this session, appropriate assessments and possible therapies will be explained. Once a decision is reached as to which assessments and therapeutic interventions are appropriate, the appointment times will be arranged by our friendly administrative staff.
Step 2: Assessments - Based on the initial consultation and presenting issues, a number of assessments may be recommended. These assessments are aimed at gaining a comprehensive understanding of the individual and to guide therapeutic interventions. They may include a qEEG, other software-based assessments, and traditional questionnaires to measure emotional and cognitive abilities, among others. Step 3: Assessment Feedback - Once our team of experts evaluate and discuss your assessment results they will set up an appointment to recommend a therapeutic support program. If you decide to pursue the program, appropriate sessions will be planned and scheduled. It is important to note that these appointments may change in length and frequency, and across clinicians throughout the program. These changes are always with the client’s best interest at heart and we will endeavour to make this process as smooth as we can and keep you informed throughout.
Step 4: Therapy - Following the Assessment Feedback, intervention options will be explained, discussed and recommended. This may include a range of therapies, such as counselling, biofeedback, neurofeedback and other neuromodulatory techniques to ensure a individualised program. Our professional counselling and psychology services offer you support in the exploration of your thoughts and help you come to manage and achieve your full potential. Step 5: Reports and Assessments Post-Therapy – In some cases it may be relevant to measure progress and share these reports with third parties, such as other medical practitioners or NDIS representatives in order to apply for further funding to continue treatment. Private clients can also have access to this step at their request.

Why Our Combined Approach
Psychotherapy offers great tools for developing coping strategies, but it is not always enough when problems are persistent. In contrast, qEEG Brain Mapping and Neuromodulation are science-based processes that uncover an individual’s brain function in a far more specific and comprehensive way than traditional questionnaires and assessments -thus our interest in this area.
However, the same occurs the other way around, and while Neuromodulation produces measurable results, patients and their families still benefit greatly from counselling to support them through the challenges they may face during their journey. Therefore, we offer an approach that combines both psychotherapy and neurotherapy for optimal results.
