Assessments & Reports
Understanding how you think, learn and function.
Sometimes, the first step towards meaningful support is understanding how your brain is functioning, which may be affecting how you think, feel and perform.
Psychological, cognitive and neurofeedback assessments, including qEEG brain mapping, can provide personalised insights that help guide care and identify strategies to support your wellbeing, functioning and quality of life.
Assessment Areas
Our psychologists provide a range of formal intellectual, cognitive and academic assessments.
These assessments can provide insight into areas such as:
-
Intellectual ability
-
Learning and academic skills
-
Attention and concentration
-
Memory
-
Executive functioning
-
Cognitive strengths and difficulties
When an assessment may help
Assessment can be particularly helpful when you, your child or teenager is experiencing difficulties with learning, attention, memory, behaviour or everyday functioning and you want a clearer understanding of why.
Turning insight into practical support
Where appropriate, we can work alongside other health professionals, schools and support services to help translate assessment findings into practical recommendations.
We also work with the NDIS, EAPs, WorkCover, DVA and other providers where applicable.
What Is Neurofeedback?
Helping you understand
and support your brain.
Your brain is constantly active, communicating through electrical signals across complex networks of connections. This activity can be measured through technologies such as qEEG brain mapping, providing insights into individual patterns of brainwave activity.
The brain is also capable of adapting and changing throughout life through a process known as neuroplasticity. Neurofeedback uses real-time information about brain activity to provide feedback that can help a person learn to influence aspects of their brain activity and develop greater regulation and strengthen desired pathways. This process provides anyone interested in developing their cognitive and intellectual abilities a tool to directly improve, measure and observe change.
At Brain Care, neurofeedback is considered as part of a personalised approach to care, depending on your individual needs, circumstances and goals. It may be used alongside psychological therapy or other appropriate interventions to support areas such as attention, learning, mood, memory and overall wellbeing.
qEEG Brain Mapping
A window into your
brain's activity.
A quantitative EEG (qEEG) records electrical activity in the brain through brainwave measurements and can provide additional information about patterns of brain activity, imbalances, processing speed and development or impairment.
At Brain Care, qEEG brain mapping may be used as part of a broader assessment and treatment process, where appropriate.
The information obtained can help our practitioners develop a more personalised understanding of your individual needs and consider whether brain-based approaches such as neurofeedback may be appropriate.
Therapy Tailored to You
Your needs are unique.
Your care should be too.
At Brain Care, we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
We begin by understanding you — what you are experiencing, what matters to you and what you would like to achieve.
From there, we develop an individualised approach that may include psychological therapy, assessment and, where appropriate, brain-based therapies such as neurofeedback.
For some people, psychological therapy may be the most appropriate starting point. For others, assessment or a combination of approaches may provide additional insight and support.
We can also work alongside your existing healthcare and support team.
Our services may be accessed through a range of funding pathways, including Medicare and NDIS where eligible. We also welcome private clients, private health insurance, WorkCover and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) referrals.
At-Home & Telehealth Support
Support that fits
into your life.
We understand that getting to appointments isn't always easy.
Psychology and counselling can be provided via telehealth where appropriate, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Depending on your individual needs, we can also discuss evidence-informed therapeutic approaches that can be incorporated into your everyday life.
Finding the right psychologist for you
The right support starts with the right relationship.
Choosing the right psychologist is a personal decision. You need to feel comfortable, respected and understood by the person supporting you.
At Brain Care, we recognise that everyone is different. There is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone, which is why we take the time to understand you as an individual — your experiences, strengths, challenges and goals.
Our psychologists bring different areas of expertise and therapeutic styles, allowing us to help you find someone who is a good fit for you.
Whether you are looking for support for yourself, your child, your teenager or someone you care about, we are here to help you find the right path forward.

What Is Psychology Like at Brain Care?
A safe place
to begin.
At Brain Care, we understand that it can take a lot of courage to seek assistance and you may have mixed feelings about attending on your first visit.
When you arrive, our friendly team will help you to enjoy your first visit. You will have a ‘welcome’ session, where you have an opportunity to slow down, feel heard and to explore support options that may best suit your circumstances.
We will talk with you about your experiences, what positive changes you would like to see and what you hope to achieve. From there, we can work together to determine the type of support that is most appropriate for you.
For some people, regular psychological sessions may be all that is needed. For others, a more comprehensive assessment may help us understand your needs and identify the most appropriate pathway forward.
Where appropriate, we may recommend a combination of psychological therapy, assessment and brain-based approaches.
